Application of the high-order symplectic FDTD scheme to the curved three-dimensional perfectly conducting objects

چکیده
A high-order symplectic finite-difference time-domain (SFDTD) scheme using the diagonal split-cell model is presented to analyze electromagnetic scattering of the curved three-dimensional perfectly conducting objects. On the one hand, for the undistorted cells, the fourth-order accurate spatial difference is employed. On the other hand, for the completely distorted cells, the treatment of the curved surfaces is based on the diagonal split-cell model. Finally, for the partially distorted cells, the interpolation strategy is proposed to keep the field components continuous. The numerical experiments suggest that the diagonal SFDTD scheme can obtain more accurate results than both the staircased SFDTD scheme and the traditional diagonal FDTD method. Furthermore, in view of the high numerical stability, the improved symplectic scheme does not need to decrease time increment to comply with the stability criterion. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A Generalized Higher Order Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method and Its Application in Guided-Wave Problems
In this paper, a (2 4) scheme of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is proposed, in which the time differential is of the fourth order and the spatial differential using the discrete singular convolution is of order 2 . Compared with the standard FDTD and the scheme of (4, 4), the scheme of (2 4) has much higher accuracy. By choosing a suitable 2, the (2 4) scheme can arrive at the...

متن کاملApplication of the symplectic finite-difference time-domain scheme to electromagnetic simulation
An explicit fourth-order finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) scheme using the symplectic integrator is applied to electromagnetic simulation. A feasible numerical implementation of the symplectic FDTD (SFDTD) scheme is specified. In particular, new strategies for the air–dielectric interface treatment and the near-to-far-field (NFF) transformation are presented. By using the SFDTD scheme, both...

In this paper, the authors present a new and robust conformal Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) algorithm for the accurate modeling of perfectly conducting objects with curved surfaces and edges. We illustrate the application of this approach by analyzing a number of representative antenna and cavity problems. These include a quarter wave monopole mounted on a perfectly conducting elliptic d...

The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to simulate three-dimensional (3-D) geometries of realistic ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scenarios. The radar unit is modeled with two transmitters and a receiver in order to cancel the direct signals emitted by the two transmitters at the receiver. The transmitting and receiving antennas are allowed to have arbitrary polarizations. Sing...
